THE LOCAL AUTHORITY SOCIAL SERVICES ACT 1970

This Act required every local authority to set up a social services committee and discharge a number of functions in relation to children and other vulnerable persons under pre-existing legislation. Those functions are described in Schedule 1 to the Act and include duties under the Children and Young Persons Act 1933, 1963 and 1969, together with the Children Acts 1948 and 1958. There are also amendments made to various prior Acts.
