CHILDREN’S HOMES ACT 1982
The Children’s Homes Act 1982 provides for the registration, inspection and the conduct of certain homes and other institutions for the accommodation of children in the care of local authorities and for connected purposes.
Section 1 sets out the Children’s homes in which the Act applies. Section 1(2) lists the institutions that are excluded from Section 1. Section 2 provides that children in care are not to be accommodated in unregistered children’s homes. Section 3 explains the application and registration process for children’s homes. Section 4 explains the conditions imposed on registration. Section 5 requires an annual twelve month review for children’s homes. Section 6 provides details regarding the cancellation of registration. Section 7 gives details about appeals. Section 8 lists provisions and regulations as to registered homes. Section 9 provides details regarding the inspection of registered homes. Section 10 applies to persons disqualified from carrying on, or being employed in registered homes. Section 11 sets out provisions relating to offences. Section 12 gives details regarding notices. Section 13 relates to expenses and Section 14 lists the interpretation.
