THE ADMINISTRATION OF CHILDREN’S HOMES REGULATIONS 1951 No. 1217
Part I applies to Local Authority Homes and Voluntary Homes. Regulation 1 sets out the general principles of administration. Regulation 2 applies to visits by the administering authority. Regulation 3 sets out provisions applying to the person in charge of the home. Regulation 4 provides details on the religious instruction. Other provisions include details on medical care (Regulation 5), dental care (Regulation 6) and the notification of death, illness or accident (Regulation 7). Provisions regarding fire include the consultation with fire authority (Regulation 8 and 9) and notification of outbreaks of fire (Regulation 10). Regulation 11 addresses punishment which includes restrictions to corporal punishment and caning.
Part II sets out additional provisions relating only to voluntary homes. This includes limitations of numbers to be accommodated (Regulation 12), prohibition of certain clothing (Regulation 13), visits by parents or guardians (Regulation 14) and provisions regarding a change of persons in charge (Regulation 15).
Part III contains miscellaneous provisions including exemptions for schools (Regulation 16) and application of the regulations (Regulation 17).
