Paedophile brothers excluded from hospital

The BBC reports that two paedophile brothers on a hospital ward with patients who have learning difficulties are to be moved. The two  had sexually abused children over 30 years in County Fermanagh. They voluntarily admitted themselves to Lakeview Hospital in Londonderry after they were deemed too mentally ill to stand trial in June.

Local authority criticised for failings in care

The BBC reports criticism of a local authority for its failure to investigate suspicions that two children were being abused by their father. The public services ombudsman  said that Merthyr Tydfil council’s lack of action meant police did not look into the case.

Boys lose appeal against convictions

The BBC reports that two boys who were found guilty of the attempted rape of an eight-year-old girl in west London have lost their appeals against their convictions. Three Court of Appeal judges in London dismissed the appeals brought by the pair, who are both now 11.
