Female Genital Mutilation Act 2003

This Act makes it an offence to excise, infibulate or other mutilate the whole or any part of a girl’s labia majora, labia minora or clitoris.(Section 1).
Section 2 provides an offence of assisting a girl to mutilate her own genitalia, and section 3 assisting a non-UK person to perform such an act.
Section 4 extends the offence to offences committed under the Act outside the United Kingdom.
A “girl” includes a woman under section 6(1).
