Our Membership Of Accident Line

We are members of the Accident Line Scheme. You can find out more about Accident Line by visiting their website on www.accidentlinedirect.co.uk or you can ring them on 0800 192939.

Accident Line is the Law Society’s Personal Injury Referral and Insurance Service. We pay an initial enrolment and membership fee and our membership is renewable annually. Accident Line expects a high standard of integrity, services and support from all their member firms and they publish a Standards Charter on their website. Member firms have to meet strict criteria for selection, based on the quality of their work and their successful track records.

As a consequence of our membership of the Accident Line Scheme, we recommend an Accident Line Protect After the Event insurance policy for all new clients with eligible cases. Some cases are not eligible for the Accident Line Scheme but we will always tell you whether your case is eligible or not.

Advice on the full range of available funding methods, including insurance arrangements, will be given to you by us. We will also check any motor or household insurance policies that you show us to see if you have any legal expenses cover available.

The Accident Line policy is underwritten by Brit Insurance Limited, a UK company authorised by the Financial Services Authority. The policy is administered through their agents, Abbey Legal Protection, a division of Abbey Protection Group Limited, who are also authorised by the Financial Services Authority in respect of insurance mediation activities.

We only offer Accident Line Protect after the event legal expenses policies to our clients with eligible cases conducted on a conditional fee basis. If the case is eligible, we do not carry out an analysis of all the insurance contracts available on the market, as we are contractually obliged to conduct this type of insurance business with just one insurer.

The cover is comprehensive, and reflects the category of risk and the stage the case reaches. Accident Line Protect is a delegated authority scheme enabling us to obtain insurance cover on your behalf promptly and to retain full professional judgment in the conduct of your case.

We do not receive a commission for recommending this insurance policy. However, we do have an interest in it as we are contractually required to arrange this insurance for our clients in all cases which are eligible for Accident Line Protect cover. In addition, we are members of the Law Society Accident Line scheme for which we pay an annual membership fee for a range of services .These fees may vary upon our use of the Accident Line Protect facility for our clients and we will always advise you on our estimate of the actual amount of benefit that we receive as a result.

We do carry out an annual review of our membership of the Accident Line scheme and are satisfied that the Accident Line Protect policy meets the needs of our personal injury clients.
