Pope discusses child abuse with Irish bishops
The BBC reports that the Pope has met with Irish bishops in relation to child abuse.
Apparently the Pope called the abuse “particularly abominable.” The record of the Catholic Church in relation to the treatment of children in its care is not an entirely happy one. There have been a number of high profile cases in Eire and the UK. In this country the following cases have been prominent:-
McDonnell v Congregation of Christian Brothers Trustee and Others 2003
Thompson v Archbishop of Liverpool and Others 2009
Raggett v the Society of Jesus Trust and Others 2009
