Paedophile brothers excluded from hospital
The BBC reports that two paedophile brothers on a hospital ward with patients who have learning difficulties are to be moved. The two had sexually abused children over 30 years in County Fermanagh. They voluntarily admitted themselves to Lakeview Hospital in Londonderry after they were deemed too mentally ill to stand trial in June.
People held in psychiatric institutions are extremely vulnerable to abuse, not only from other patients but also sometimes staff as well. It is very difficult if not impossible for a person with a mental illness to articulate an incident of abuse.
