Carer charged with wounding child
Get Surrey reports that a health carer has pleaded not guilty to two counts of wounding with intent in relation to a knife attack on a six-year-old girl and a woman in Guildford in June. The man appeared at Guildford Crown Court on Wednesday.
A trial date has been set for the 6th December of this year.
Victims of violent crime are able to make claims to the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority, a government organisation to provide compensation. In addition they may have a civil claim against the person who assaulted them, or even in some cases against that person’s employer where it can be shown that the person was acting in the course of his or her duties. The law has stretched the definition of “acting in the course of one’s duty” to the extent that the employer of a care worker can in certain circumstances by liable if that care worker assaults those within his or her care
