Birmingham social workers sacked
The BBC reports that six social workers at Birmingham City Council have been sacked over failings in the children’s services department. Their cases were not linked with that of Khyra Ishaq, the little girl who was starved to death by her mother and her boyfriend.
See our earlier report on this case.
A number of civil cases have highlighted failures on the part of social services in the past. See the case of Pierce v Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council for an example of the “standard of care” expected of social workers.
