Rights for abandoned Indian Brides
I was reading today an article about Indian brides, who are abandoned by their British Asian husbands. These unfortunate women are then left finding themselves unable to find a new husband.
Would they have a claim against their husbands?
Very possibly. Much depends on the jurisdiction where the marriage took place, but concievably English matrimonial law might well apply. In addition, although again there might be a jurisdiction problem, these women might be able to bring a claim for misrepresentation. Clearly they have suffered huge loss as a result of the actions of these deceitful men.
Whether there would be a personal injury claim is a moot point. A cause of action that occurs in another jurisdiction can sometimes form the basis of a claim in this country. However there would need to be some personal injury, since emotional distress is not normally something for which one can claim on its own.

Whatever the ins and outs of the law, a claim against these men would certainly bring home to them the consequences of their action.
