Sexually abused children not receiving proper treatment
20th July 2009
The Times reports that the treatment of young people varies according to their postcode. Some services are so overstretched that they cannot take on new patients.
The issue of treatment is frequently problematic in child abuse cases. Some psychiatrists may say that a person does not need any treatment.
In the case of A. VERSUS THE ARCHBISHOP OF BIRMINGHAM (1) THE TRUSTEES OF THE BIRMINGHAM ARCHDIOCESE OF THE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH [2005] EWHC 1361 (QB) a very large award for treatment and care was given.
