Mother sectioned after death of sons

Sky News reports that a 21 year old mother was sectioned under the Mental Health Act following the death of her two children. Both had been stabbed.
The mother has now pleaded guilty to two counts of manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility.

Very young children who are known to be at risk from their parents, can sometimes be removed into care as soon as they are born. Part V of the Children Act 1989 relates to the protection of children.  This includes child assessment orders (s. 43), orders for emergency protection of children (s. 44 and removal and accommodation of children by police in cases of emergency (s. 46).
