Man jailed for possession of child pornography

Kent Online reports that a man has been jailed for offences involving indecent images of children.

Peter Selley was arrested in March last year and charged with 10 offences of distributing child abuse images, 15 offences of making indecent images and five offfences of possessing indecent images. He was sentenced to four years imprisonment.

The Sexual Offences Act 2003 now deals with the issue of child pornography. Section 45 to 51 deal with indecent photography of children (including those aged 16 or 17, paying for the sexual services of a child, controlling a child prostitute or a child involved in pornography.

Mr Selley will also be placed on the sex offenders register.

The 2003 Act deals with notification and registration requirements for sex offenders. In the most serious cases, a relevant offender will be subject to requirements for an indefinite period, i.e. the rest of his life. In less serious cases, the period is less.
