“Horrific” abuse against two month old child
The Times Online reports the death of a two month old child, whose mother was convicted of child cruelty. The mother, who had been monitored by health workers in Newham and Camden, had already had one child taken into care.
The baby suffered multiple rib fractures, as well as a broken wrist and shoulder. Apparently the mother and her partner had escaped the attention of health workers by failing to turn up to appointments. She also lived at various addresses including women’s refuges.
The case highlights the difficulty that the authorities have, when trying to protect children at risk. Sometimes parents will live chaotic lives and it is hard to locate them.
