Government is failing children in care
20th April 2009
Sky News reports that children in care are not getting proper government support, according to a committee of MP’s. Concerns about the lack of resources put into children’s services have been a feature of the social care system ever since it was set up. The main statute is the Children Act 1989 which sets out the basic duties of social services. This Act has been added to by other child care statutes, more recently the Childcare Act 2006 and the Children and Young Persons Act 2008.
