Boys questioned after vicious attack in Doncaster
The BBC reports that police have apprehended two youngsters, after a vicious attack on two boys, aged nine and eleven. Both had been seriously injured. It is believed that the two victims had been hit with a brick, slashed with a knife and burned with cigarettes in the Brick Ponds area of Edlington on Saturday.
Attacks against children by other children are particularly shocking. The criminal law deals with young people differently to adults. The Children and Young Persons Act 1933 was an early attempt to put the criminal law in relation to children on a firm footing. More recently we have the Criminal Justice Act 1988. Part IX sets out provisions in regard to young offenders.
